The Guilty Party and Work Sucks (37w5d)

I get home from a productive day of getting the carseat installed and getting groceries and sit down to check out what's going on in the blog world. I hear some rustling from inside the fresh, clean Pack N Play that we assembled a few short days ago. I pull back the robe I had covering it to find the guiltiest looking little punk of a cat I have ever seen. Our love affair may be coming to an end if this keeps up.

I called in sick to work yesterday because I had more back pain and I hadn't been able to sleep. I am required to page my boss. The return message was along the lines of, "Why don't you talk to your doc and see about going on an early leave if your back is bothering you so much." I let her know that I really want to work up until I deliver because I want the time with my child. She replied that I need to make sure that I can walk if I return; there have been complaints (one from a staff member, another anonymous complaint that came through her boss) about my rolling around in a chair and doing my duties. This really pisses me off. To make a long story short, I call her and we discuss some options. This culminates with me coming in and doing a couple hours of holding area work and the rest of the day project time. Personally, one of the things that she has me doing kind of belongs on the shoulders of someone else, but I'll take it if it keeps me from going out early.

To add to that, I have the beginnings of a cold. I've got that raw nose, sore throat feeling. It is feeling very tempting to take an early leave, and do all the nesting things that I'd ordinarily not have the time to do. But it is two weeks that I would not have with my son that I'd never get back. But my back is so miserable, and it really does hurt to walk or change positions quickly.

I am going to begin looking into some ways to jump start this labor so my boy will get here and all of these shananigans can be laid to rest. I am having such a hard time deciding what to do.

On the up side, I have an appointment with a physical therapy group this Friday to hopefully help with this back pain. Looking forward to that.

Uhm, I'm sorry. Did you say more than one person complained because you 'rolled' around. I'm guessing you used your chair to scoot back a few feet to the printer rather than using your desk chair as an wheel chair and wandered all over the building and out to lunch. Wow!

By the way, I love the kitty in the PNP! Awesome!

Good luck - you are almost there!!

Oh Kaaron, you are getting so close, hang in there sweetie! What do you do for your job? Hopefully your boss accommodates you so you can work as long as possible in order to have quality time with the baby.

I'm a nurse, so I don't have a desk per se that I stay at. I am usually confined to one general area, though. Effin idiots. I really don't want to be forced into an early FMLA because someone thinks I look bad. Am hoping this cold doesn't push me over the edge, though.

Love the kitty picture. He probably thought you bought him a new bed. (:

Gah on the complaints. Seriously, if you are still getting your work done, who really gives a rat's ass how it happens. Sorry you are dealing with all of this and the back pain. I can totally understand wanting to have that time later.

Come on out, Ben!! I think your Mama's ready for you!! (:

Ack... so sorry about your back pain. I completely understand your pain and to be honest what your co-workers said really pissed me off. I hope you're able to work as long as you like so you can be home with baby later on. Sorry about the cat issue, too... we're dealing with the same thing and it's SO annoying. I got a baby gate for the room but it only keeps out the dogs and not the cats. The cats have gone into the nursery and one has scratched up the rug while the other coughed up a hairball on the bed. Ugh!

This made me laugh and then made me angry! Laugh b/c of your cat. We have the same problem with Ouisie and Otis in the bassinett (how do you spell that?) I think we might need to just get them one of their own.

Angry b/c of your intolerant co-workers. Sheesh! Where's the love and compassion for the pregnant woman? I know you are still doing a great job, even if you have to modify your environment a bit to accommodate a temporary "disability". Sorry you have to deal with all of that. I hope the therapy tomorrow helps a lot...and that Ben gets moving soon!
