I have recently begun to feel Junior kicking. At the 18 week mark, I had a hard time distinguishing between kicking and gas. I figured if I didn't fart, it was Junior, but was not terribly certain. It is really amazing what a difference a couple of days makes, because I can now definitely tell what is a kick. Right now, after my pint of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie (Frozen Yogurt--38% less guilt, people), I am feeling a few inner karate chops.
I have to give mad props to the women that exercise through pregnancy. I am just not one of them. I get winded going up the stairs, for crying out loud. I am kickin' this pregnancy old school, napping as much as possible, eating ice cream (now with a tad more moderation) and gleefully bossing around my husband. I suppose my fear of exercise could be traced back to losing Baby B. I figure, why risk it? I can always exercise later, after Junior has safely kicked and screamed his way out of my womb. I have gained approximately 10 pounds over 18 weeks. I figure that isn't so bad for nearly halfway through.
I am much relieved to be feeling this kicking. There are times I look in the mirror and think, "You sure that isn't just a food baby in there?" Even with the trusty e.bay doppler giving me a nice steady heartbeat, there have been times that I still feel like this isn't quite real. This helps.

Yo, K! It was great seeing you for lunch a little while back. Thrilled to hear your childcare plans/part time work sitch is all coming together so well, and that you are feeling kicks! I have been on the verge of asking to bum your doppler just to get some reassurance, so hopefully I am not far behind you in the kicks dept. Congrats on your ebay win, too. I'm sure the nursery will look gorgeous.
I was the same way...it took me a while to identify actual baby movement, but then once I recognized it, I noticed it all the time. Conrats on the kicks and glad to hear you worked out your childcare options.
Very exciting!
I'm glad you got everything worked out for childcare too. It sounds like a great set-up.
I'm glad you are doing good and enjoying the baby moving all around. I can't wait to feel that. I think things will seem a lot more real then!
Starting a couple days ago (around the 16 week mark) I realized that the strange sensations I was getting were actually baby kicking, too. I usually feel it a half dozen times a day, and it feels like a soft little kick (usually on the right side). So glad you're feeling Junior, too! :)
I'm totally with you on the exercise thing, too. I think my fear of exercising goes back to early complications as well. I figure, why risk it? I, too, have gained 10lb, which is a little disconcerting but that's okay.
Glad everything worked out in the child care arena, too!
